Lot 0138: ANTIQUE 19TH C QAJAR PERIOD POTTERY FOUR VASES

41 reviews

Antique collection of four Middle Eastern Kutahya ceramic vessels hand-painted with polychrome Iznik-style floral motifs. After Iznik, Kutahya was Ottoman Turkey's most important center of ceramic production. Thanks to abundant deposits of clay in the area, ceramics were made here in large quantities during the Phrygian, Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine eras, and the traditional techniques of this art have survived to the present day.
