An antique late 19th-century Russian Orthodox icon. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board. The icon is enclosed in a silver riza or oklad with polychrome enamel decoration. The icon represent Virgin Mary with Christ Child in the Our Lady of Kazan iconography. Mother of God of Kazan icon is known as the Holy Protectress of Russia. Hallamark of silver standard and makers mark are on the bottom of the oklad. Antique Russian Religious Items and Collectibles.
