An antique late 18th - early 19th century copy of an artwork titled An Allegory of the Five Senses by Carlo Cignani, 1628 to 1719, an Italian artist based in Bologna who was strongly influenced by Correggio and Guercino. The painting presents a pastoral scene, a mother breastfeeding an infant with four other children surrounding her. Each child symbolizes one of the five senses, hearing, sight, smell, touch, taste.
