A pair of very fine quality English porcelain plates produced by Brownfield and Sons in the second half of the 19th century and retailed by WP and G. Phillips. The plates are beautifully hand painted with naturalistic birds and blooming cacti on a sky blue ground. The plate depicting a pair of red-crested cardinal birds is signed with the monogram JP, the plate with an image of a sparrow and a butterfly signed with the monogram SJE.
