Lot 0274: HANDMADE MID CENTURY UZBEK SILK IKAT CHAPAN ROBE

41 reviews

A lovely Central Asian chapan robe or caftan from Uzbekistan in a traditional Ikat pattern displaying shades of purple, magenta, peacock blue, yellow and cream. Decorated with a hand embroidered trim. The ikat technique is a very complex weaving technique. The threads are dyed in vivid colors before weaving. The weaver must therefore plan the composition of the ornaments in advance. World And Traditional Clothing, Middle Eastern Clothing, Hippie And Bohemian Fashion.
