An Austrian, Old Vienna, Keramos Dancer earthen ware lamp base by Rudolf Podany, Austrian, 1876 to 1963. The lamp base is adorned with a figure of Tamara Karsavina dressed in an Art deco costume covered with a glaze in gray, white, yellowish green and blue shades. Circa: 1930. Marked with a factory stamp, Austria, and a sculptor stamp, on the bottom. Tamara Platonovna Karsavina, Russian, 1885 to 1978, was a Russian prima ballerina, renowned for her beauty, who was a principal artist of the Imperial Russian Ballet and later of the Ballets Russes of Sergei Diaghilev. The company Keramos was founded in 1920 and production began in September by producing ceramic lamps, figurines and vases. Josef Hoffmann was a long time partner of Keramos, as was the sculptor Podany, who was engaged from the beginning and created a large number of designs.
