Samuel Rosenberg was an American artist, known for Modernist, surreal urban views, portrait and abstract painting. Samuel Rosenberg's career as an artist and teacher spans nearly six decades. His style evolved during his career that can be described in four periods. From 1915 to 1930 Rosenberg mainly painted portraits. The artist turned to Pittsburghs urban landscape and American Scene paintings from 1930 to 1942. From 1942 to 1952, he experimented with allegory and abstraction, and finally from 1949 to 1972 during the period when the artist felt he had come into his own, he explored Abstract Expressionism. Throughout his career Rosenbergs art always emphasized the the importance of light. One of a kind artwork.
