A very fine sterling silver goblet designed by Mikhail Chemiakin, Russian, born 1943. The goblet is formed as a Petrushka figure holding a miniature goblet, raised on a gadrooned base. Features a gilt interior. Marked under base with a Chemiakin Design logo, Sterling mark, a copyright symbol and other hallmarks. Mihail Mikhailovich Chemiakin, Russian, Soviet, American, born 1943, is a painter, stage designer, sculptor and publisher, and a controversial representative of the nonconformist art tradition of St. Petersburg. Together with the philosopher Vladimir Ivanov, he created the theory of metaphysical synthesis, dedicated to the search for new forms of icon painting based on the study of the religious art of different eras and peoples.
