An antique Victorian silver plated Temperantia round basin, a Venus Rosewater Dish, designed by Francis Briot, 1545 to 1620. The central raised medallion with Temperance holding a wine cup surrounded by a band with cartouches of four classical elements with herms and strapwork between. The outer border with cartouches of the seven Liberal Arts and one of their patron Minerva between further strapwork and masks, with ovolo rim. Manufactured by Elkington and Co., Birmingham.
