An antique late 19th-century American primitive seeding hand tool or corn planter. The manual seeder has a round tin hopper that is held in place on a wooden frame by curved cleats and can be opened by a means of foot pedal. The clothespin-like hinged end is designed for gorund contact. Stenciled painted inscriptions on the frame: The American Standard, Sheffield Mfg Co., Burr Oak, Michigan, Pat. 1891-1893.
