An antique 19th-century French lockable jewelry box made of rosewood. The piece is executed in the style of Boulle. Brass and silver inlay constructs floral patterns with acanthus leaves. The interior is lined with red velvet. Boulle work is a type of rich marquetry perfected by the French cabinetmaker Andre Charles Boulle, 1642-1732, who often incorporated elaborate designs with arabesques in his creations.
