A lot of six vintage Russian lacquer pins of round and oval form. Each piece is hand-painted with a folklore scene. A man with a red bird, titled Zhar-ptitsa and signed Mstyora, N.K. on the backside. Young man and girl with a yoke, titled Russian Beauty and signed Kholuy by Bolov M. on the backside. A bogatyr on horseback kills the three-headed serpent, titled Battle on the backside. Two horsemen fight, titled Duel and signed Mstyora by Medvedeva M.A. on the backside. A girl with a red flower, titled The Scarlet Flower and signed Mstyora on the backside. A girl with a goat sits on the river bank, titled Alyonushka and signed Mstyora by Semenova on the backside. Mstyora is a settlement in Vladimir Oblast and a center of local lacquer and icon-painting traditions. Kholuy is a village in Ivanovo Oblast and an iconpainting school. Zhar-ptitsa or Firebird is a magical creature from Slavic mythology, the captor of the bird is said to get his wishes fulfilled.
