An antique limited edition photo engraving on wove paper, The Absent One on All Souls Day, 1889, after Walter Maxwell MacEwen, American, French, German, 1860 to 1943. From Charles M. Kurtz, Illustrations from the Art Gallery of the Worlds Columbian Exposition, Philadelphia: George Barrie, publisher. Signed in the plate upper right. Additionally inscribed in pencil lower left. Impressed stamp lower left. Copyrighted 1893 by Geo Barrie upper to the center. Walter MacEwen is known for Genre, figure and portrait easel painting, murals. One of the most acclaimed expatriate painters of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, he was pivotal in the establishment of the art colony at Egmond, Holland.
