An antique limited edition photo engraving on wove paper, Quarrel About Cards, 1893, after the original painting, 1889 by Konstantin Makovsky, Russian, 1839 to 1915. From Charles M. Kurtz, Illustrations from the Art Gallery of the Worlds Columbian Exposition, Philadelphia: George Barrie, publisher. Signed and dated in the plate lower right. Additionally inscribed in pencil lower left. Copyrighted 1893 by Geo Barrie upper to the center. Impressed stamp lower left. Konstantin Egorovich Makovsky is an influential Russian painter, one of the early members of the association of the Peredvizhniki Wanderers. He is known for Idealized portrait, figure and historical painting. Many of his historical paintings, such as The Russian Brides Attire, 1889, showed an idealized view of Russian life of prior centuries. He is often considered a representative of Salon art.
