Alberto Ruiz Vela was born in 1920 in Mexico City, Mexico. He studied art there at the Mexico Academy of Fine Arts. Among his teachers were Jose Clemente Orozco and Carlos Ruano Llopis. He was later to receive his mural training with Diego Rivera. He is known for his cityscapes, bull fight scenes, landscapes, and seascapes. He painted in both oils and watercolors. Ruiz Vela came to the United States in the early 20th Century and settled in the Los Angeles, California area. He painted murals locally, and throughout the United States and Mexico.
