An Imperial Porcelain Factory military plate, St Petersburg, period of Nicholas I, 1796 to 1855. The cavetto is hand-painted with an image of a military oboist and a grenadier of the Tengin Infantry Regiment, 1756-1761. The border of dark navy blue color is decorated with raised white floral compositions and a Russian Imperial double-headed eagle. Bears an inscription in Cyrillic and a blue underglaze mark of Nicholas I with Imperial Cypher on base. Provenance: Shapiro Auctions, June 7, 2014, Lot 240.
