Eleanor Burnette, contemporary mixed media on board artwork Waves, 2002. The artwork is dedicated to the Middle passage theme. The Middle Passage was the stage of the Atlantic slave trade in which millions of enslaved Africans were transported to the Americas as part of the triangular slave trade. Signed and dated lower right, also signed, titled and dated verso. Housed in a black painted wooden frame. One of a kind artwork. Eleanor Burnette, 1944 to 2020, Afro American female artist. After graduating from Chicago State University in 1976, the artist moved to Princeton where she studied under the guidance of Chaim Gross. Burnette experimented with different techniques and participated in numerous exhibitions including events at Virginia Lynch Gallery in Tiverton, Carrier Fine Art Festival, UFA Gallery, and others.
