An antique French Empire period mantel clock dated circa 1780 - 1800. This Neoclassical style clock is made by Michel-François Piolaine, French, active from 1787. The case is made of red marble and gilded bronze details. The sides of the clock body are decorated with caryatids holding stylized cornucopias on their heads.
