An antique American color wood engraving illustration titled Give the natives a chance, Mr. Carl by Thomas Nast. Signed in the plate lower right. The caricature of Sec. of Interior Schirg introducing Indians to the Ballot box the great protector of the Age. Published in Harper's Weekly, March 13, 1880, p. 173. Matted and framed. Thomas Nast (1840 to 1902) was a German-born American caricaturist and editorial cartoonist often considered to be the Father of the American Cartoon. Antique American Print Collectibles.
