Two antique 19th-century Russian Orthodox icons. A wedding couple is a conventional name for a composition of two icons: the Savior and the Most Holy Mother of God (Theotokos), which are used during the sacrament of the wedding for blessing. Mixed media paintings: egg tempera, gesso on a wood board with kovcheg. The icons are protected by 84 silver oklad covers with repousse detailings and enameled halos. The Savior icon has indecipherable handwritten inscriptions on the backside with the date 1903 in the bottom middle. Both icons come with a golden frame and a wooden showcase.
