The engraving is inscribed on the lower margin: Entered According to Act of Congress in the year 1853, by W.E. Tucker in the Clerks Office of the District Court of the District of Pennsylvania. Franklin Pierce, President of the United States, Inaugurated March 4th 1853. Housed in a richly decorated wood and gesso frame accented with gilding and red velvet.
