A pair of matching antique early 19th century vases, lidded amphoras with handles and a rounded footed base. The vases are dark blue and are richly covered with gilt floral ornaments. The body of each vase has a handpainted picture depicting scenes from ancient Greek mythology, The Abduction Of Europa, and The Sacrifice Of Iphigenia, on the verso side. The title of each scene is hand signed in German on the bottom of the items. There is also a picture of a draped female figure on the recto side of each amphora. The blue beehive hallmarks on the bottom of the items indicate that they were made by Royal Vienna, a famous Austrian porcelain manufacture. Antique European Porcelain Decor and Collectible Items.
