41 reviews

A cold-painted cast bronze figurine depicting a man sitting on a carpet and studying the Quran script, attributed to Franz Xavier Bergman, 1861-1936. Such items were a very popular product in Austria at the beginning of the 20th century, when Franz Xavier Bergman, 1861-1936, opened a foundry in Vienna. Bergman bronzes are normally stamped with a capital B placed in a twin-handled vase and occasionally inscribed Geschutzt referring to the design being copyrighted, both of these hallmarks can be seen on the bottom of the item.
