Lot 0108: RUSSIAN SOVIET OIL PAINTING BY IGOR SNEGUR

41 reviews

Igor Grigorevic Snegur, Russian Soviet, born 1935, oil painting on canvas, Outcome, 1978. Signed with a monogram and dated lower right. Framed. Additionally inscribed, titled, dated, and inscribed on the back. Was purchased from the artist as one of the best. Igor Snegur is one of the modern masters of the Russian Avant-Garde and a very prominent Non-Conformist artist. The artist took part in the famous Bulldozer exhibition of paintings by Moscow nonconformist artists, which took place on September 15, 1974, and was destroyed by police officers with the help of watering machines and bulldozers, from which it got its name. In different years, critics attributed Snegur to both the second wave of Russian avant-garde and Moscow prescriptions, but the artist's artwork does not fit into the framework of one style. From the very beginning, Snegur's creative activity was multifaceted: the artist was a cinema and theater designer, books and posters illustrator. Provenance: Anna Feltsman Estate. Feltsman family: Oscar Feltsman, 1921 to 2013, was a Russian composer of Jewish descent born in Odessa. He was the father of Vladimir Feltsman, born in 1952 a Russian-American classical pianist. Anna Feltsman was the first wife of Vladimir Feltsman. Authenticated by Aleksander Borovskiy. Head and Chairman of Contemporary Art in the Russian State Museum in St.Petersburg (Leningrad), since 1989. I do with pleasure confirm the authenticity of the amazing painting oil on canvas by Igor Snegur, b 1935. This particular large painting is called "Exodus", Ishod. It's a touching story of ancient Jews leaving Egypt for freedom. His works are in Tretyakov Museum Gallery in Moscow, State Russian Museum in St Petersburg, numerous museums in Europe, as well as in prestigious private collections. Great piece of Art. Regards A Borovskiy.
