Lev or Leon Bakst, 1866 to 1924, was a Russian painter and scene and costume designer of Belarusian origin, who worked mainly in St. Petersburg and Paris. Diaghilev, one of the trendsetters of the European fashion for exoticism and orientalism at the beginning of the 20th century.
