A set of four antique late 19th-century items. First. An embroidered signboard with the inscription Gives Us This Day Our Daily Bread and a cornucopia. Painted wooden frame. Second and third. Two matching handmade pictures, embroidered collages of young ladies in lace dresses. White mat, golden frames. Fourth. The World's Columbian Exposition, 1492-1892. Portfolio of Views photographed by C.D. Arnold and H.D. Higinbotham, published in St Louis in 1893. The Columbian Exposition was a world's fair held in Chicago in 1893 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus' arrival in the New World. The exposition was an influential social and cultural event that had a profound effect on American architecture. The album features photographs of the Pavillion built-in for the expo.
