Enook Manomie, Inuit, Canadian, 1941 to 2006, limited edition lithograph on parchment paper and hand signed in pencil lower right, Homebound Fisherman, 1979, from the commissioned series. Artisan Prints Canada asked several First Nation artists to design twelve Art Cards that clearly depicted his native Eskimo artistry and culture. Titled in pencil lower left. Red stamp lower right. Inscribed in the plate upper right. Framed. Provenance: TC&TC The Collective And The Collection NYC. Enook Manomie was a multimedia artist born in Kinngait (Cape Dorset), NU. Manomie is known for his sculptures, drawings, prints and jewellery. He developed his skills by observing his father, who was a well-known sculptor. Manomie started carving in his teens and favoured subject matter such as arctic wildlife. Enook Manomie comes from a long line of famous soap stone carvers. His pieces have been exhibited in major galleries and museums throughout Canada and the world. Many of his carvings are part of the permanent display of the Art Bank in Ottawa, the Smith College Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Canada, the Penn Museum, the McMaster Museum of Art. Graphic Art Prints and Collectibles.
