Nikolai Stepanovich Troshin, Russian and Soviet avant-garde painter, theatre director, and poster designer worked for the influential journal USSR under Construction. Studied at Penza Art Institute under Ivan Goryushkin Sorokopudov, moved to Moscow where he studied with Ilya Mashkov. He started to exhibit in 1918. His paintings can be found in the collections of the Tretyakov Museum, State Russian Museum, and many other museums in Russia.
