An antique hand colored lithograph, View of New York from Brooklyn Heights, 1849, after Frances Funny Flora Bond Palmer, American, 1812 to 1876. Titled in the plate lower to the center. Lithographed and published by Nathaniel Currier, American, 1813 to 1888, Currier and Ives. Marked in the print lower right and left. This view of Lower Manhattan, from across the East River, includes church spires, warehouses, and the densely clustered masts of anchored ships. In the middle ground paddle steamers and sailing ships ply the river and, in the foreground, eight people sit and stand on a strip of grass along Brooklyn Heights. Fanny Palmer is best known for her illustrations of American life for Currier and Ives. Graphic Art Prints and Collectibles.
