A pair of antique Japanese watercolor paintings on silk depicting Folklore scenes with a landscape and a seascape. Unsigned. Circa: 19th century.Early Japanese silk paintings were done with black ink or paint, and were generally monochromatic. Entering the 14th century Japanese artists began using a range of pigment, adding color to paintings. Between the 16th and 18th centuries silk painting began to spread from its origins in East to the West. One of a kind artwork.

Overall good antique condition. Signs of age and wear. Refer to photos. Sold As Is.
Framed 15 x 16 in. Plate 9 x 10 1/4 in. All measurements are approximate.
