An antique ceremonial fraternal Patriarchs Militant IOOF Odd Fellows sword with an engraved blade and owners initials. Produced by the Pettibone Bros MFG. Co in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. Circa the early 20th century. The sword has a wire wrapped leather handle and an aristocratic crowned globe pommel. A brass cross guard has ornate decorations in high relief of a crown, a sword and a staff and three links of Odd Fellowship. Comes with an original steel scabbard made in applied ornate design including the letterings Pax Aut Bellum for Peace or War, PM for Patriarchs Militant, with an ornate bottom with an acorn. The Patriarchs Militant are the uniformed branch of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF), one of the oldest and largest fraternal orders in the world today. The Patriarchs Militant were established by the Sovereign Grand Lodge back in 1885. Antique Swords And Sabers For Collectors.
