Tales of a Wayside Inn by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, published by Ticknor and Fields, Boston, 1863. The first edition. Hardcover with green cloth binding. Top edge gilt. Longfellow was an American poet and educator whose works include The Song of Hiawatha, Evangeline, and Paul Reveres Ride, an 1860 poem that commemorates the actions of American patriot Paul Revere on April 18, 1775, although with significant inaccuracies. It was first published in the January 1861 issue of The Atlantic Monthly, and later retitled The Landlords Tale in Tales of a Wayside Inn. Antique Longfellow Collectible Editions.
