A collection of rare antique French books, Journey of a Frenchman to Italy in the years 1765-1766, Containing The History and The Most Singular Anecdotes of Italy, and Its Description; Manners, Usages, Government, Commerce, Literature, Arts, Natural History and Antiquities; with Judgments on The Works of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture, and the Lens of All The Great Cities of Italy, by Jerome Lalande, 1732 to 1807. Four volumes. Published by Desaint, Paris, 1769. Leather covers with gold embossed spine titles on two colored spine labels and rich floral gold embossing covering the entire spine, red edges. Language: French. Joseph Jerome Lefrancois de Lalande, 1732 to 1807, was a French astronomer, freemason and writer. These volumes are travelogue and Italian regional studies by the French mathematician, astronomer, and enlightener Joseph de Lalande, who, among other things, made a name for himself with his calculations of the orbit of Halleys comet.
