In 1982, Timur Novikov created the New Artists group. The first members of the group are Georgy Guryanov, Evgeny Kozlov, Oleg Kotelnikov, Ivan Sotnikov, Kirill Khazanovich. Stylistically, the new artists were parallel to such Western European movements in art as the New Wild or Neue Wilde, Germany, East Village, USA, Figuration Libre or Free Figuration, France,Transavantgarde, Italy and such phenomena as the new figurativeness, new wave, new romanticism.
