Lot 0213: THE TOUCH BONE SCULPTURE SIGNED BY JERRY HARDIN

41 reviews

A hand carved sculpture made out of a pelvic bone entitled The Touch and signed by Jerry Hardin. The artwork represents two male figures running or dancing as if mirroring each other's movements. The wooden base of the figurine is covered with black resin. Collectible Abstract Bone Sculpture. Jerry Hardin was born in Dallas on November 20, 1929. He attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, on a scholarship before going on to study at London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, earning a scholarship there through the Fulbright Program. His role in 1993's The Firm won Hardin the attention of television writer Chris Carter, who cast him in the recurring role of Deep Throat in the series The X-Files. Hardin began sculpting in an effort to give full-blown form to the etchings of Jacques Callot, a fifteenth century artist who captured the bizarre actions of the actors of the Commedia Del Arte. To lift these wild human bodies off the page and have them stand on their own two feet hooked him. Many artists have influenced his work, including Brancusi, Barlach, Lehmbruck. Bone is his medium of choice, having been carving it for over 35 years.

Overall good vintage condition. Signs of age and wear. Yellowing, scuffs, damage at edges and corners. One hand missing, broken fingers. Damage at base. Refer to photos. Sold As Is.
