A Japanese Musha Ningyo - boys' day doll, of a samurai and his attendant, wood, silk, papier-mache. Their heads are carved out of wood and covered with gofun - white oyster shell lacquer. The dolls' hair is possibly made from human hair. Their inner kimonos and hakama are made of silk brocade and their armors are made of lacquered papier-mache pieces connected by silk ropes as in real samurai armor and decorated with gilt accents. Complete with a wooden stand and original wooden box. Collectible Vintage Japanese Musha Ningyo Dolls.
