A pair of antique American major type beer tax US revenue stamps that were introduced in 1878. These US revenue stamps were printed by the National Banknote Co., and they are all inscribed, Series of 1878. The lot includes 50 c. Barrel Beer Tax Stamp on orange paper, series of 1878, SC #REA41c (44575) with the portrait of Thomas Jefferson; and 25c Quarter Barrel Beer Stamp on Blue Paper SC #REA39. Both stamped and canceled. Federal beer tax US revenue stamps first appeared in 1866. Antique and Vintage US Revenue Stamps, Beer Tax Stamps, and Collectibles.
