Six antique color lithograph prints including Conference Room, Hakodadi and Hakodadi from Telegraph Hill after Peter Bernhard Wilhelm Heine (1827-1885), Japanese Rice Mill at Simoda Nippon after Miner Kilbourne Kellogg (American, 1814-1889), Japanese Women, Simoda, Kura-Kawa-Kahai, Prefect of Simoda, and Bell-House at Simoda after Eliphalet Brown (American, 1816-1886). All the illustrations are from the Narrative of the Expedition of an American Squadron to the China Seas and Japan: performed in the years 1852, 1853, and 1854, under the command of Commodore M.C. Perry, United States Navy, by order of the Government of the United States is a printed history, in 3 volumes, of the Perry Expedition, written by Francis L. Hawks, under the supervision of Commodore Matthew Calbraith Perry, and using the written materials compiled by Perry and his colleagues on the expedition. The series was first presented as a report to the United States Senate, then published commercially, in 1856.
