Two antique female portrait engravings with stipple and etching after Pierre Gustave Eugène Staal (French, 1817-1882). The religious print of Athalie. Published by Garnier freres editeurs in 1860. Signed G. Staal in the lower left and J. Brown lower right in the plate. And the print of a three-quarter length woman as Hagar, standing directed to the left, with arms open, head scarf, striped skirt, desert in the background. Signed G. Staal in the lower left and W. Egleton lower right in the plate, circa 1833-1862. Both mounted. Pierre Gustave Eugène Staal was a painter, etcher and lithographer, moved to Paris in 1834 where entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts.
