Alexander Kuprin (Alexandre Kouprine) (Russian Soviet, 1880-1960) oil painting on canvas depicting a still life. Signed lower right. Additionally signed and illegibly dated on the back. Framed. Inscribed, to M. Gavrilenko from the grateful Barabanovs, on the back. Alexander Vasilievich Kuprin, a Russian and Soviet landscape painter, Honored Art Worker of the RSFSR, Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Arts, member and exhibitor of the Jack of Diamonds associations (1911-1916, founding member, in 1916 - chairman of the board); World of Art (1917-1921); Moscow painters (1925-1928); Genesis (1926–1927); OMC (1928–1932). Kuprins work developed in line with post-impressionism and cubism. He was a pure Cezannist, the most nervous and dramatic, his still lifes retained the power of color and plasticity even when the former Jacks muffled their natural temperament and renamed themselves into Moscow Painters (1925) and the Society of Moscow Artists (1928). One of a kind artwork.
