A large antique exceptional Burmese (Myanmar) solid silver repousse thabeik bowl on three open work legs. The bowl is particularly heavy gauge, repousse' decorated in high relief with scenes from the Burmese mythology, representing various figures and mythological winged figures in a landscape, with very detailed ceremonial scenes, probably, depicting Mahabharata scenes with Garuda bird, and other scenes. The base is chased with a band of betel leaves and the top with a scroll band. The workmanship is particularly crisp and detailed. Circa: late 19th century-early 20th century. Marked with an engraved incription on the bottom. The shape of the thabeik bowl is based on alms or begging bowls used by Burmese monks.
