Lot 0320: ANTIQUE CHINESE CRAVED EIGHT PANELS WOODEN SCREEN

An antique Chinese hand carved wooden screen. The screen is made in three-dimensional wooden carving and consists of eight panel canvases. The center of each canvas is decorated with a traditional Chinese genre scene. Symbols of good wishes are woven into the carved field of the screen: a dragon, a bird, and others. Scalloped edges on top. Provenance: The present lot on auction form part of the Kuranda's family estate. The provenance of items can be tracked back to Felix Kuranda in XIX Century Austrian Empire, member of a well known family of bankers and politicians; directly related to the Karpeles, Wittelshofer, Milne And Lederer families. The most chronological recent lots are former belongings from USA veteran Major Thom Stellinger-Scott related through marriage with the Kuranda lineage. He was a veteran of Korean War as well as a reputed amateur photographer and artist. The Stellinger-Scott family resided for decades at Montauk Long Island NY.
