Lot 0365: A GERMAN BISCUIT PORCELAIN FIGURINE OF APHRODITE

41 reviews

A vintage German biscuit porcelain figurine depicting Aphrodite, ancient greek goddess of love and beauty, in a graceful pose standing near the tree and stretching her hand to flowering branches. The folds of the tunic falling to the heels, outlining the figure, have been carefully worked out. Each petal of the hand-sculpted flowers is subtly worked out, magnificently decorating the tree. Unusual author's solution of the figurine - a combination of white porcelain with a bluish-black base. Unmarked but made in German manufactory style circa the 1920s-1940s. Interior decor and porcelain collectibles.
