Two vintage optical illusion art screenprints His Black Eyes Snapped Shut, 1970, by Michael Challenger, British b.1939. Both are titled, numbered 38/150 and 42/150, hand signed by the artist, and dated. Michael Challenger is painter, sculptor, and printmaker; studied at Goldsmiths' College School of Art 1960-64 and then at the Slade School of Fine Art 1964-66; for two years he taught at Goldsmiths' 1968-70 and at the Slade 1970-72; awarded the Sainsbury Prize for Sculpture in 1966; from the late 1960s showed his hard-edge geometric prints, paintings and sculpture at the London Arts Gallery, as well as in New York, Detroit and in Verona, Italy, where he kept a studio in the mid-1970.
