Lot 0236: A. MOREAU LARGE ANTIQUE FRENCH CAST IRON FIGURES

A set of two large finely detailed cast iron sculptures made after Auguste Moreau, French, 1834 to 1917. One is featuring a boy playing with his dog. The other depicts a girl holding a bird in her apron. Both are covered with a beautiful brown patina. Mounted on the round base. Unsigned. Auguste Moreau was born in Dijon in 1855 and studied with the sculptors Aimé Millet, Augustine Drumond, Jean Thomas, and at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Auguste Moreau mainly produced artistic bronzes. Moreau's style was realistic and graceful. The bronze sculptures of Louis Auguste Moreau are outstanding examples of Art Nouveau. Several of his works are held at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Troyes and the Musée des Beaux-Arts of Bordeaux. Art Nouveau Style Fine Arts And Antiques For Collectors.
