After Giambologna (Flemish, 1529-1608) a patinated bronze statue of flying Mercury with a torch. One of the most well-known statues from the Renaissance era, this Mercury statue is a copy of a celebrated design by Giambologna created around 1564. Giambologna designed this statue as part of a fountain for the Medici in the Villa Medici in Rome. Mercury was a messenger and a god of trade, profit, and commerce. Mounted on a rectangular stand.
