A gorgeous 1860s Victorian Era leather bound photo album. The pages have gold gilt gauffered edges. The cover is embossed textured leather with beautiful brass clasps. Some photos are signed in pencil and there are small notes on loose papers explaining the identity of portrayed individuals. The album in this lot is a very particular example of educational purposed one, intended to be used by upper class families. The images contained include General Lee, General Kearney, General William Starke, Italian hero Garibaldi, Charles Dickens, Edgar Alan Poe, Prince Albert and many others sometimes hand painted.
