A lot of three Italian collectible hand painted cartes de visite perhaps the most ubiquitous form of nineteenth century photography. The 3 cabinet portrait photo cards are depicting male and female figures of locals in traditional picturesque costumes. From the late 1850s through the latter half of the century, these economical keepsakes circulated en masse and spurred a veritable “cartomania”. Pair of photo cards by Fratelli De Luca Napoli, and one from famous Georges Sommer. All cards are stamped on the back. Circa 1860s to 1870s.
