The countries have been inlaid using abalone, sandstone, marble, dyed magnesite, and agate. The names of the countries are written in red and the seas in white; the latitude and longitude are indicated in gold tone metal inlay. The globe is secured on a metal rod at the poles and can tilt and rotate.
