Leon Samoilovich Bakst, 1866 to 1924, was a Belarusian and Russian artist, set designer, illustrator, who worked mainly in St. Petersburg and Paris. Member of the association Mir Iskusstva, theatrical and artistic projects of S. P. Diaghilev, one of the trendsetters of the European fashion for exoticism and orientalism at the beginning of the 20th-century.
